SSC CGL 2025 Chaos: Exams Cancelled at 25+ Centres in Delhi & Gurgaon, Lakhs of Aspirants Left Anxious
SSC CGL 2025 exam cancelled at multiple centres across Delhi and Gurgaon, leaving lakhs of aspirants anxious and demanding answers. Know the latest updates, reasons, and official response
The first day of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC)’s Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025 Tier-I was disrupted on Friday as it was cancelled at multiple centres — including Delhi’s Bharti Vidya Niketan Public School and Gurgaon’s M M Public School — over technical and administrative reasons.

A cancellation notice posted at one of the Delhi centres said the Delhi and Gurgaon exams were called off due to administrative reasons. Candidates who were allotted these centres have been asked to appear on September 24, 25, and 26.
While the Jammu centre at Digital Computer Education faced technical issues during the first shift, as per an official notice. Here, the candidates affected have been asked to appear on September 26.
An aspirant allotted a centre in Vikaspuri told The Indian Express, “The exam was supposed to take place in two shifts. In the morning, we realised it was cancelled due to administrative reasons. Many students had come from far away, and the sudden cancellation has created a lot of anxiety…”
An aspirant from Delhi, whose centre was in Gurgaon, received a rescheduling email on Friday evening. Its contents read: “Dear Candidate, it is hereby informed that the examination scheduled in MM Public School, Gurugram, on 13.09.2025 and 14.09.2025 is cancelled due to administrative reasons and all the candidates will be rescheduled in Delhi/NCR in subsequent dates (sic).”
An official response from the SSC is awaited.
This disruption follows widespread protests over SSC exam mismanagement in Delhi earlier this year. During the Selection Post Phase 13 examination held between July 24 and August 1, aspirants faced abrupt cancellations, software crashes, biometric verification failures, and incorrect exam centre allotments. Many candidates who had travelled long distances were forced to return home without taking the exam.

The protests drew thousands of students and educators to Jantar Mantar and the CGO Complex, demanding accountability from the SSC, a review of its vendor contracts, and an independent investigation into the failures.
SSC chairperson S Gopalkrishnan had earlier said, “Since this is the first time for this agency, the examination has faced technical glitches and procedural lapses at a few centres. We have taken cognizance of this and are working to minimise disruptions.”
The SSC is a central government body that conducts competitive exams to recruit staff for various Group B (non-gazetted) and Group C (non-technical) posts in ministries, departments, and other government offices. These exams offer a pathway to coveted government jobs, attracting millions of aspirants each year.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Examination 2025, one of India’s most competitive and sought-after government job recruitment tests, witnessed major disruption on Saturday, as exams were abruptly cancelled at several centres across Delhi and Gurgaon. The sudden cancellations have left lakhs of aspirants frustrated, anxious, and demanding immediate clarity from authorities.
According to reports, exam centres in West Delhi, Rohini, Dwarka, Saket, and multiple locations in Gurgaon were affected. Students who reached on time, many traveling from distant states, were shocked to learn that the exam was postponed or cancelled without prior notice.

Several candidates alleged that they were made to wait for hours before being told to return home, while some reported technical glitches and administrative mismanagement at centres.
The cancellation sparked anger among students, many of whom took to social media platforms like X (Twitter), Facebook, and Telegram groups to express their frustration. Some claimed they had spent months preparing, while others had spent heavily on travel and accommodation, only to face last-minute chaos.
One candidate wrote on X:
“Travelled overnight from Kanpur for SSC CGL 2025. Reached Gurgaon centre on time. Only to be told exam is cancelled. Who will compensate for the money and time lost?”
Another aspirant from Delhi added:
“Lakhs of us prepare for years. This is not just an exam; it’s our career. SSC must be held accountable for such negligence.”
While SSC has not released a formal statement, sources suggest that the cancellations were triggered due to:
Technical glitches in computer systems at certain centres.
Infrastructure issues such as power failures and inadequate seating arrangements.
Security concerns regarding unauthorized entry attempts.
However, the lack of official communication has only intensified confusion and panic among students.
So far, SSC has only acknowledged “operational issues” and has promised that fresh dates for cancelled exams will be announced soon. But candidates remain worried whether rescheduled exams will clash with other competitive tests like UPSC prelims, banking exams, and state-level PSCs.
The SSC CGL examination is considered a gateway to prestigious central government jobs including positions in ministries, departments, and organizations. Each year, more than 30 lakh candidates register for the exam, making it one of the largest recruitment tests in the country.
This year’s chaos has once again raised questions over SSC’s preparedness, with experts urging reforms in how the commission conducts computer-based exams.
SSC is likely to release an official notification on its website regarding rescheduled dates.
Candidates have been advised to keep checking ssc.nic.in for verified updates.
Aspirant groups are planning to submit formal complaints and seek intervention from the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions.
