At 59, Milind Soman Begins Epic 5-Day Fitness Run From Mumbai To Goa

Milind Soman has kicked off the 5th edition of ‘The Fit Indian Run’, a 558-km solo journey from Mumbai to Goa

At an age when most slow down, Milind Soman is hitting the accelerator—literally. The 59‑year‑old fitness icon has launched an ambitious 5‑day, ~600 km run from Mumbai to Goa, challenging age norms and championing holistic wellness. Let’s dive into the story of this extraordinary achievement and what it represents.

Departing from Mumbai, Soman’s run is mapped across 5 days, covering approximately 120 km each day. The goal: not just personal glory, but to inspire fitness, raise awareness, and reiterate his evergreen motto—“Keep challenging yourself”

This isn’t his first epic run. He previously covered:

  • 420 km from Mumbai to the Statue of Unity,
  • 450 km from Jhansi to Red Fort,
  • 240 km barefoot from Pune to Vasai Virar Fort—and cumulatively over 1,100 km in his Unity Runs

This Mumbai-to-Goa run, estimated at ~600 km, ranks among his most ambitious yet

A) Defying Age Stereotypes
At 59, Soman is a living testament to lifelong fitness. His story challenges the notion that endurance peaks in youth.

B) Inspiring Everyday Fitness
His mantra is simple: begin with small challenges—a minute of push-ups, a short jog—and gradually build up. “If someone did it, you can do it too,” he once said

C) Mental Toughness & Resilience
Endurance isn’t just physical—it’s mental. Soman’s runs reflect his belief in pushing boundaries, staying mindful, and embracing discomfort to grow stronger.

Each day Soman maintains a steady pace of 10‑12 km/h over 10‑12 hours, with minimal rest. His run is open to public and media—fans can join for parts, interact, and learn about his approach to nutrition, mindset, and recovery.

Discipline & Simplicity
He follows a clean diet, avoiding processed foods—prioritizing home-cooked meals

Mindful Recovery
Rather than specialized gear or coaches, he listens to his body: rest when needed, treat injuries early, and incorporate yoga/stretching.

Barefoot Philosophy
He often runs barefoot or in minimal Xero sandals—believing it fosters a natural, resilient gait

At each stop, Soman hosts open fitness sessions—encouraging locals to take their first steps into running, perhaps 5 or 10 km. His belief: fitness spreads like wildfire if sparked locally

The 59-years-old is all set to cover the scenic but tough terrains along the Konkan coastline. Milind will pass through Pen, Kolad, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, and Kankavli and ultimately reach Panjim, Goa, in five days.
