Dharavi Redevelopment Project 2025: 15-Day Mega Documentation Camp for Over 1 Lakh Residents from Nov 1–15

The Dharavi Redevelopment Project 2025 will host a 15-day mega documentation camp for over 1 lakh residents from November 1 to 15, streamlining paperwork and verification for Mumbai’s largest urban renewal initiative

The Dharavi Redevelopment Project (DRP) will launch a two-week camp to collect eligibility documents across Dharavi to close all pending surveys and ensure every eligible family is included in the government’s redevelopment scheme. The initiative aims to ensure that no household is left behind.

“It is a major outreach initiative to verify and complete unprocessed or partially verified cases. All these households will be covered through focused engagement and documentation to convert them into completed status. We request all residents to proactively come forward and complete their survey documentation at our designated document collection centres,” a DRP official said.

“The DRP has started releasing the Draft Annexure-II, giving priority to residents who have already completed their household survey,” the official said, adding “those who are finishing their surveys now, or have just started, will be included in the next round of lists.”

According to latest survey data, more than one lakh residents have already completed their household surveys. The upcoming “mega documentation camp” is seen as a key push to include those households which may have been left out due to various reasons.

“This drive will be managed by DRP/GoM duly supported by NMDPL teams. Sector-wise offices will be set up under Deputy Collectors, Tehsildars, and Surveyors to handle document scrutiny and grievance resolution. NMDPL will deploy field surveyors supported by a central call centre that will inform residents about schedules and required paperwork. The documentation drive will be operational all seven days of the week from 10 am to 6 pm with a lunch break between 1 and 2 pm at the designated offices within Dharavi,” the official said.

The Dharavi Redevelopment Project 2025, one of India’s most ambitious urban transformation initiatives, is taking a major step forward with the launch of a mega documentation camp for Dharavi residents. Scheduled from November 1 to November 15, this 15-day drive aims to verify documents, streamline the beneficiary identification process, and ensure that every eligible resident can seamlessly participate in Mumbai’s largest redevelopment effort.

Dharavi, known as one of Asia’s largest informal settlements, has long been the focus of multiple redevelopment plans. However, with the launch of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project 2025, the Maharashtra Government and the project’s implementing partners have committed to creating a world-class urban ecosystem. The initiative promises modern housing, upgraded infrastructure, and better living standards for over 10 lakh people living in the area.

To make this dream a reality, proper documentation and verification of each household are crucial. The upcoming camp is a key milestone in ensuring transparency and efficiency in the rehabilitation process.

The Dharavi Mega Documentation Camp 2025 will be conducted across multiple centers within the locality to make the process easily accessible to all residents. The camp will be operational for 15 consecutive days, from November 1 to November 15, 2025, and will cater to more than 1 lakh residents.

Residents will be required to bring proof of residence, identity documents, and ownership records (where applicable). Teams from the Dharavi Redevelopment Project office will assist citizens with form filling, verification, and submission of required paperwork.

The documentation process is a critical foundation for the redevelopment plan. It ensures that only eligible and genuine residents are included in the list of beneficiaries for new housing units and compensation packages. The initiative also aims to minimize disputes and delays by verifying data directly from the community through a transparent, well-monitored process.

Officials have emphasized that this camp is not just a paperwork exercise — it represents the first tangible step toward a new beginning for Dharavi’s residents. By ensuring that every household is properly documented, the project can move swiftly into its next stages of planning, construction, and rehabilitation.

The success of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project depends heavily on collaboration between government bodies, private partners, and the local community. The documentation camp reflects a proactive, people-first approach, emphasizing participation and awareness. Special help desks and multilingual support teams will be available to assist residents from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

Once the documentation process is complete, the next phase of the Dharavi Redevelopment Project will focus on finalizing the beneficiary list and initiating the construction of modern housing units. The project envisions a transformed Dharavi — with sustainable infrastructure, proper sanitation, healthcare, education facilities, and vibrant commercial spaces.

The Dharavi Redevelopment Project 2025 stands as a symbol of inclusive urban growth and government commitment to improving citizens’ quality of life. With the mega documentation camp scheduled from November 1–15, Dharavi is set to move one step closer to a brighter, more equitable future.
