Mumbai Supercar Crash: Porsche Racing BMW at 150 kmph Loses Control on Highway — ₹2 Crore Sports Car Totaled, Driver Seriously Injured

A speeding Porsche racing with a BMW at around 150 kmph crashed into a divider on Mumbai’s Western Express Highway near Jogeshwari, leaving the driver seriously injured

A high-speed Porsche car crashed on Mumbai’s Western Express Highway near Jogeshwari late last night, leaving the driver seriously injured. According to eyewitnesses, the Porsche was racing with a BMW at a speed of around 150 kmph when the accident occurred.

The incident took place at around 2 am, when the DN-number Porsche lost control and rammed into a road divider under the Jogeshwari Metro station. The impact was so powerful that the luxury car was completely mangled.

Eyewitnesses said, “The Porsche car and BMW were racing when suddenly the Porsche became uncontrollable and crashed into the divider.”

At the time of the crash, two people were inside the vehicle. Though the safety airbags deployed, the driver sustained severe injuries. Passersby and police personnel rushed to the spot and immediately took the injured man to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police have launched an investigation to determine whether the crash was indeed a result of a high-speed race or if there was another cause behind the accident.

In a shocking incident that unfolded on Mumbai’s Western Express Highway late Wednesday night, a high-speed race between a luxury Porsche and a BMW ended in a horrific crash, leaving one driver seriously injured and causing massive damage to both the car and public property.

According to police reports, the Porsche 911 Carrera, valued at approximately ₹2 crore, was allegedly racing a BMW M4 when the driver lost control while attempting to overtake at nearly 150 kmph. The impact sent the car spinning out of control before it collided with the highway divider near the Santacruz flyover, causing extensive damage to the front end of the vehicle.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as terrifying. “We heard a loud screech followed by a deafening crash. It felt like a bomb blast. The Porsche was completely mangled at the front,” said a cab driver who was waiting at a nearby signal.

The BMW, reportedly involved in the race, did not stop and sped away from the scene. However, CCTV footage from nearby toll booths and traffic cameras has been secured by Mumbai Police, who are investigating the identity of the BMW driver and the possibility of illegal street racing.

The Porsche driver, a 32-year-old businessman from Bandra, sustained multiple fractures and head injuries. He was rushed to a private hospital in Andheri, where his condition is said to be stable but critical. Police have filed an FIR under sections of rash and negligent driving and endangering human life under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Motor Vehicles Act.

Authorities revealed that night-time racing involving high-end cars has become increasingly common on stretches of the Western Express Highway and Marine Drive. “These illegal races put lives at risk — not just the drivers but innocent commuters,” said a senior officer from the Mumbai Traffic Department.

Following this incident, the police have initiated a special night patrol drive to monitor sports cars frequently spotted on the highway during late hours. The department is also coordinating with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) to identify repeat offenders who modify cars for high-speed performance.

Social media erupted with videos and images from the crash site, showing the crushed Porsche being lifted by a crane. Many users called for stricter laws and heavier penalties against reckless driving and illegal racing.

“Mumbai roads are not racetracks. These stunts are a threat to everyone’s life,” one post read, while others demanded that such drivers be permanently banned from holding a license.

Preliminary estimates suggest damages of over ₹50 lakh, including the cost of repairs, road divider reconstruction, and nearby property damage. The Porsche has been seized by authorities for forensic examination to determine if alcohol or performance-enhancing modifications were involved.

The BMW driver remains absconding, and police are tracing the vehicle based on license plate recognition cameras. Investigators believe both vehicles were part of a luxury car group known for late-night highway runs.
