Trump Reveals Israel Agrees to ‘Withdrawal Line’; Hamas’ Confirmation Could Trigger Immediate Ceasefire Within 24 Hours
Former U.S. President Donald Trump claims Israel has accepted a withdrawal line proposal, saying a single confirmation from Hamas could trigger an immediate ceasefire within 24 hours — a potential breakthrough in the ongoing Gaza conflict
U.S. President Donald Trump said in a social media post on Saturday (October 4, 2025) that Israel has agreed to an “initial withdrawal line” for Gaza, which has also been shared with Hamas.
Mr. Trump said “when Hamas confirms,” a ceasefire will be effective “immediately” and a prisoner exchange will begin, setting the stage for the next phase of Israel’s withdrawal from the Palestinian.
After negotiations, Israel has agreed to the initial withdrawal line, which we have shown to and shared with Hamas. When Hamas confirms, the Ceasefire will be IMMEDIATELY effective, the Hostages and Prisoner Exchange will begin, and we will create the conditions for the next phase of withdrawal, which will bring us close to the end of this 3,000 YEAR CATASTROPHE. Thank you for your attention to this matter and, STAY TUNED!” Mr. Trump said in a post on Truth Social.

U.S. White House Press Secretary earlier in the day reposted a video of Mr. Trump thanking all the Arab nations who backed him in his plan to end the Gaza crisis.
“I want to thank the countries that helped me put this together. Qatar, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, and so many others. So many people fought so hard. This is a big day. We’ll see how it all turns out. We have to get the final word down in concrete. Very importantly, I look forward to having the hostages come home to their parents and having some of the hostages, unfortunately, you know the condition they’re in, come home likewise to their parents because their parents wanted them just as much as though that young man or young woman were alive. So I just want to let you know that this is a very special day, maybe unprecedented in many ways,” Mr. Trump was seen speaking in the video.
He further said that it was an unprecedented act and praised the unity shown by all the nations involved.
“It is unprecedented, but thank you all and thank you all to those great countries that helped. We were given a tremendous amount of help. Everybody was unified in wanting this war to end and seeing peace in the Middle East. And we’re very close to achieving that. Thank you all, and everybody will be treated fairly,” he said.
In a dramatic announcement that could mark a turning point in the ongoing Gaza conflict, former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Israel has agreed to a “withdrawal line”, signaling its readiness to implement a ceasefire plan — provided Hamas formally confirms its acceptance. According to Trump, if Hamas issues its approval, an immediate ceasefire could be triggered within 24 hours, potentially ending months of bloodshed and humanitarian crisis.
Speaking at a press briefing in Washington D.C., Trump stated that his team had been working closely with regional intermediaries to establish a framework acceptable to both sides. “Israel has already accepted the withdrawal line, and we’re now waiting for Hamas to confirm. Once they do, we could have a complete ceasefire — possibly within the next 24 hours,” Trump declared.

While Trump did not specify the exact terms of the proposed “withdrawal line,” sources familiar with the discussions suggest it may refer to Israeli forces pulling back from parts of northern Gaza, allowing for humanitarian aid corridors to reopen and displaced civilians to return. The plan reportedly
As of now, Hamas has not publicly confirmed or rejected the proposal. However, internal reports indicate that its leadership is “reviewing the terms” and discussing potential implications with mediators from Qatar and Egypt, who have been instrumental in previous negotiation efforts.
Hamas officials have historically demanded a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the lifting of blockades, and international guarantees before agreeing to any form of ceasefire. If the group accepts the latest plan, it could lead to the first sustained truce since the latest escalation began, offering hope to millions affected by the violence.
Israeli government sources have maintained a careful tone, acknowledging Trump’s statement but refusing to confirm operational details. One senior Israeli official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, “There is indeed an understanding being explored. Israel’s goal remains the return of all hostages and the restoration of long-term security. We are prepared for de-escalation if Hamas agrees to stop all hostilities.”
Analysts interpret Israel’s acceptance of a “withdrawal line” as a strategic concession aimed at securing international goodwill and relieving growing diplomatic pressure from the United States, the European Union, and the United Nations.
Trump’s announcement also carries political undertones as he continues to shape his campaign ahead of the 2024 U.S. Presidential elections. By positioning himself as a potential mediator and dealmaker, Trump seeks to capitalize on his reputation from the Abraham Accords, a series of normalization deals brokered during his presidency between Israel and several Arab nations.
During the briefing, Trump emphasized, “Peace is possible if both sides show strength through compromise. My administration has always supported Israel’s right to defend itself, but peace cannot come from endless retaliation. It must come from a vision.”
Political observers believe Trump’s statement could put pressure on the current U.S. administration to accelerate diplomatic engagement in the Middle East, where tensions have risen sharply over civilian casualties and cross-border rocket attacks.

Reactions poured in swiftly after Trump’s remarks. The European Union welcomed the possibility of a ceasefire, urging all parties to prioritize humanitarian relief and civilian safety. The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres stated that any progress toward a sustainable ceasefire “must be met with verification, protection for civilians, and unimpeded access for humanitarian aid.”
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed ongoing dialogue with both Israel and Hamas, emphasizing its role as a “neutral facilitator” in achieving a peaceful outcome. Egypt also reiterated its readiness to host follow-up talks if both parties express formal commitment to the plan.
Middle East analysts have urged caution, noting that similar announcements in the past have failed to produce lasting peace due to distrust and recurring violations. Dr. Lina Haddad, a senior analyst at the International Crisis Group, noted, “While Trump’s statement is encouraging, both sides have deep-seated political motives. Verification mechanisms and international monitoring will be critical to prevent a breakdown of trust.”
Others argue that even a temporary ceasefire could bring much-needed relief to Gaza’s 2.3 million residents, many of whom have endured continuous bombardment, displacement, and power shortages.
Humanitarian organizations are already preparing contingency plans should the ceasefire come into effect. The World Health Organization (WHO), UNRWA, and Red Crescent have indicated readiness to deploy emergency medical aid, food supplies, and reconstruction materials.

A 24-hour ceasefire could also enable rescue and recovery teams to operate in heavily damaged areas, particularly in northern Gaza where infrastructure destruction has been severe. The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) reported that nearly 60% of residential buildings have sustained damage or total collapse since the escalation began.
The coming hours are expected to be critical. If Hamas confirms its acceptance of the withdrawal plan, international monitors could move swiftly to supervise the truce’s implementation. The U.S., Egypt, and Qatar are believed to be ready to send observers to ensure compliance and prevent immediate violations.
However, should Hamas reject the proposal or delay its response, the situation could deteriorate further, with Israeli forces maintaining operational readiness and regional tensions remaining high.
Trump concluded his address with a direct appeal: “This is the closest we’ve come to
