New Delhi, Oct 20 (IANS) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday extended Diwali greetings to the countrymen and prayed for positivity and joy in everyone’s life.
Diwali is known as the festival of lights, symbolising the spiritual victory of Dharma over Adharma, light over darkness, good over evil, and knowledge over ignorance. It is celebrated with great enthusiasm throughout the country, where people light earthen lamps and candles and offer prayers to Goddess Lakshmi.

In a post on X, the Chief Minister said, “Heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all of you on the grand festival of Diwali, the sacred symbol of the eternal victory of truth, the eternal righteousness, and positivity! The festival of lights is not merely a ritual of lighting lamps, but a beacon of hope in the soul, a pulse of harmony in society, and a resolve for national resurgence.”
“May the grace of Lord Shri Ram and Mother Janaki illuminate not only our homes but also our hearts, and may the lamp of faith, enthusiasm, and zeal be kindled in everyone’s life,” he added.
Currently in Ayodhya to celebrate Diwali, CM Yogi will visit Kandharpur Ward-1. During his visit, he will interact with residents of the Nishad community, distribute fruits and sweets and convey his Diwali greetings to them.
He will also visit the Mattagajendra (Matagaid) Devkali Ward in Ayodhya, where he will meet with members of the Dalit community, distribute fruits and sweets.
Ayodhya geared up for the grand culmination of its ninth edition of Deepotsav, which began on October 17. The celebrations will peak on Monday with the lighting of 26,11,101 diyas across 56 ghats along the Saryu River, setting a new record in the city’s spiritual festivities.
Deepotsav 2025 is showcasing an extraordinary scale of participation — 26 lakh diyas, 2,100 Vedic scholars, 1,100 drones, and 33,000 volunteers — in a vibrant fusion of devotion, culture, and technology, reflecting Ayodhya’s growing stature as a global symbol of faith and heritage.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath extended heartfelt Diwali greetings to the citizens of the state and across India, while announcing that he will personally join the Nishad community in Ayodhya for the annual Diwali celebrations. The event is expected to draw over 25,000 devotees, making it one of the largest community gatherings in the temple town this festive season.

In a public statement released on Saturday morning, CM Yogi conveyed his best wishes for a safe and joyous Diwali. “May this Diwali illuminate your homes with happiness, prosperity, and harmony. I extend my warm greetings to all citizens and devotees celebrating across the state and the country,” he said.
The CM emphasized the importance of observing the festival with traditional fervor while maintaining safety measures, especially in public gatherings. He also highlighted the government’s initiatives to ensure smooth celebrations, including improved civic arrangements, traffic management, and sanitation drives across Ayodhya and other major towns in Uttar Pradesh.
As part of the celebrations, CM Yogi will visit Ayodhya to join the Nishad community, a prominent group in the region, known for their active participation in cultural and religious events. The Chief Minister’s visit aims to strengthen community ties and acknowledge their contributions to the city’s cultural heritage.
Preparations are already underway in Ayodhya, with authorities setting up arrangements for over 25,000 devotees expected to attend the event. The Nishad community has organized cultural programs, devotional songs, and traditional rituals to mark the occasion, with the CM’s participation adding special significance to the festivities.
Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Ram, is already aglow with festive lights and decorations. Streets leading to Ram Janmabhoomi and other temples have been adorned with colorful lamps, banners, and flower arrangements, creating a vibrant and spiritual atmosphere. Security arrangements have been strengthened, with the deployment of state police, volunteers, and disaster management teams to ensure a safe and smooth celebration for residents and visitors.
Additionally, civic authorities have implemented traffic control measures, including diversion of vehicles and designated parking areas, to manage the large influx of devotees. Special sanitation and cleanliness drives have been conducted to maintain hygiene in crowded areas, ensuring the festival remains safe and joyous.

The CM’s participation in the Nishad community celebrations underscores the cultural and spiritual importance of Diwali in Ayodhya. The festival, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, holds immense religious significance in the city, attracting devotees from across India.
Community leaders have welcomed CM Yogi’s involvement, noting that it fosters unity and encourages citizens to engage actively in cultural traditions. “The Chief Minister’s presence adds immense value to our celebrations. It reflects his commitment to preserving our heritage and promoting social harmony,” said a senior member of the Nishad community.
