Horror in Train: Child’s Body Found in Toilet Bin, Accused Nabbed After 1-Km Chase in Joint Operation

A horrifying crime shook passengers as a child’s body was found in a train toilet bin. The accused was caught after a 1-km chase in a joint police operation

In a joint operation conducted by the Surat Crime Branch and Amroli Police on Monday apprehended the accused who had allegedly kidnapped and dumped the body of a child in a trains toilet bin after killing.

The police said that the accused was held following three days of intense efforts.

The suspect, identified as Vikas Vishnudayal, a resident of Shivaan village in Bihar, was tracked down after police received a location alert from Mumbai’s Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC). Acting swiftly, the joint police team launched a pursuit and arrested the accused after a one-kilometre chase in Surat, said a police officer.

According to officials, Vishnudayal had allegedly abducted the minor and later murdered the child, aged around 4-year-old.

Sanitation workers cleaning a toilet on the Kushinagar Express train were shocked to find the body of the boy stuffed inside the dustbin at 1 am on Saturday.

The gruesome discovery was made while the train was at platform number 4 of Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) in Kurla. The police had launched a manhunt for the boy’s cousin, Vikas, 26.

According to the police, he kidnapped the minor from Amroli in Surat, Gujarat, on Friday and brought him to Mumbai. He allegedly strangled the boy inside the bathroom of AC coach B2 and dumped the body before fleeing. Blood spatters were also found at the spot. The child’s body was shifted to the Rajawadi Hospital for autopsy.

In a shocking incident that has left the nation stunned, the body of a young child was discovered stuffed inside a toilet bin on a passenger train. The gruesome crime, which unfolded during a routine journey, sparked immediate panic among travelers and triggered a massive joint operation by the police and railway protection authorities. After a dramatic one-kilometre chase, the prime accused was apprehended, bringing some relief amid widespread outrage.

According to officials, the incident came to light when passengers complained of a foul smell emanating from the train’s toilet. On inspection, railway staff made a horrific discovery — the body of a child concealed in the dustbin. The shocking revelation spread rapidly through the compartments, causing chaos and fear among travelers.

Authorities were immediately alerted, and the train was halted at the next major station. Local police, along with the Railway Protection Force (RPF), cordoned off the area and launched an investigation on the spot.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing a man acting suspiciously near the toilet area shortly before the discovery. As police began questioning passengers, the accused allegedly tried to escape. A joint team of law enforcement officers gave chase, eventually capturing him after a one-kilometre pursuit.

The arrest was met with loud applause from passengers and locals gathered at the station, many of whom expressed anger and demanded the harshest possible punishment.

Police sources revealed that the accused is currently in custody and being interrogated. While the identity of the child victim is still being confirmed, preliminary investigations suggest a possible connection between the accused and the victim. Forensic experts have been called in to examine the body and determine the exact cause and time of death.

Officials emphasized that all angles — including kidnapping, trafficking, and personal enmity — are being thoroughly investigated. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from the train and the station to reconstruct the sequence of events leading up to the crime.

The incident has sparked a wave of outrage across social media platforms, with netizens demanding swift justice. Parents and commuters voiced concerns over railway security, stressing that such heinous crimes highlight serious safety lapses in public transport.

Child rights activists condemned the crime as “barbaric and unforgivable,” urging authorities to not only deliver strict punishment but also strengthen mechanisms to protect vulnerable children in transit.

In a joint statement, the Railway Protection Force and local police assured that stringent measures are being taken to ensure passenger safety. Special teams have been deployed to increase vigilance on trains, particularly long-distance ones. Spot checks, intensified patrolling, and surveillance of suspicious movements are among the steps being implemented.

Senior railway officials also promised to enhance coordination with state police to respond more quickly to emergencies and improve security inside train compartments.

This chilling crime adds to the growing list of incidents raising concerns about safety on Indian railways, one of the busiest networks in the world. With millions of passengers traveling daily, experts argue that the system needs more robust security frameworks, including installation of surveillance cameras in every compartment and improved passenger reporting mechanisms.
