Operation Sindoor: India’s Biggest and Most Successful Anti-Terror Mission, Says PM Modi in Bhopal

PM Modi Lauds Operation Sindoor as India’s Largest Anti-Terror Mission, Sends Stern Warning to Terror Sponsors

Bhopal, India — Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a massive public gathering in Bhopal on Saturday, described Operation Sindoor as the largest and most successful anti-terror operation in India’s history. The Prime Minister issued a powerful message to those sponsoring terrorism, emphasizing India’s readiness to strike across borders in response to acts of terror.

In a speech charged with nationalistic fervor and resolve, Modi said, “Our armed forces demolished terror camps deep inside areas that even the Pakistani army wouldn’t have imagined. Operation Sindoor has made it clear that a proxy war through terrorists is completely unacceptable.”

The Prime Minister’s remarks come in the wake of the April 22 civilian killings in Pahalgam, which served as the catalyst for Operation Sindoor — a large-scale retaliatory strike carried out by Indian armed forces targeting terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The operation has been widely hailed as a significant milestone in India’s counter-terrorism efforts.

A Stern Message to Pakistan

In a direct warning to Pakistan and state sponsors of terror, Modi declared, “We will now strike inside your territory, and those who support terrorists will also have to pay a heavy price.” He emphasized that India will not tolerate the use of terrorism as a tool of proxy warfare, signaling a clear shift in the nation’s security doctrine.

The statement is widely seen as a reaffirmation of India’s proactive security posture, following in the footsteps of earlier retaliatory actions such as the 2016 Uri surgical strikes and the 2019 Balakot airstrikes.

Symbolism Behind “Operation Sindoor”

Modi also elaborated on the significance of naming the operation “Sindoor,” linking it deeply to Indian culture and the strength of women. “Sindoor is a symbol of ‘Naari Shakti’ in our tradition,” he said. Drawing attention to the brutal attack on civilians in Pahalgam, the Prime Minister stated that terrorists had not only shed Indian blood but had attempted to assault the country’s traditions and womanhood. “They challenged ‘Naari Shakti’. This challenge proved fatal for terrorists and their masters.”

The choice of the operation’s name serves a dual purpose—honoring India’s cultural heritage and underlining the moral justification of the military action as a defense of both life and values.

Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan and Tributes to Ahilyabai Holkar

Before his public address, Prime Minister Modi participated in the ‘Mahila Sashaktikaran Maha Sammelan’ (Women Empowerment Grand Conclave) in Bhopal, marking the 300th birth anniversary of the legendary Maratha queen, Ahilyabai Holkar.

Ahilyabai Holkar, revered for her progressive leadership in 18th-century Malwa, was commemorated during the event with the release of a special postal stamp and a ₹300 commemorative coin. The Prime Minister also conferred the National Devi Ahilyabai Award to an artist recognized for exceptional contributions to tribal, folk, and traditional arts.

Modi hailed Ahilyabai Holkar as a timeless icon of governance, spirituality, and social justice. He noted her enduring influence on Indian cultural and administrative life, describing her as a shining example of woman-led development centuries ahead of her time.

Development Projects Unveiled

Alongside his speech and tributes, the Prime Minister also virtually inaugurated several key infrastructure projects in Madhya Pradesh, signaling a broader developmental vision for the state.

Notable among these was the Super Priority Corridor of the Indore Metro, part of the city’s Yellow Line. The six-kilometer corridor, comprising five stations, promises to provide Indore — recognized as India’s cleanest city — with a modern, efficient, and environmentally friendly public transport system. Officials say this marks a significant milestone as the first metro corridor in the state.

Additionally, Modi inaugurated the Datia and Satna airports, further enhancing connectivity across Madhya Pradesh, and laid the foundation stone for multiple development projects across sectors.

As part of his focus on rural empowerment, the Prime Minister transferred the first installment for 1,271 new Atal Gram Seva Sadans (Panchayat Bhawans), constructed at a cost of ₹483 crore. These community centers are intended to strengthen local governance and improve service delivery in rural regions.

A Message of Strength and Resolve

The combination of a forceful anti-terror message and a strong emphasis on cultural identity and development underlines the Modi government’s integrated approach to national security, women’s empowerment, and infrastructure growth.

Operation Sindoor, with its scale and symbolism, marks a decisive moment in India’s evolving security doctrine. Modi’s speech not only celebrated military success but also emphasized national pride, cultural identity, and grassroots development.

As the country prepares for upcoming elections and navigates complex geopolitical dynamics, Saturday’s address in Bhopal could resonate strongly across both policy and public discourse.
