Thousands of people from across Bihar gathered in Patna on Thursday (May 29, 2025) evening with tricolours in their hands and patriotic slogans on their lips as they hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the success of Operation Sindoor.
Mr. Modi, who had vowed to punish culprits of the Pahalgam terror attack at a rally in Madhubani district last month, led a massive roadshow in the city after arriving in the poll-bound State on a two-day visit.
Mr. Modi visited Sikkim and West Bengal earlier in the day. Highlighting Sikkim’s developmental journey, Prime Minister Modi said that the northeastern State has become a model of progress and has emerged as a symbol of the richness of culture and heritage. “With the Atal Setu, connectivity between Sikkim and Darjeeling has also greatly improved. The entire Northeast, including Sikkim, is becoming a shining chapter in the development story of the new India,” he added.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also laid the foundation stone for a city gas distribution (CGD) project worth ₹1,010 crore in West Bengal’s Alipurduar district, asserting that the State’s development is essential for India’s journey towards becoming a developed nation.

After holding roadshow of about 6 km, PM Modi reached State BJP headquarters for a meeting with party leaders and workers… he is likely to discuss with party’s Bihar leaders about the upcoming State Assembly elections which are due in October-November this year.
New Patna terminal to be built at a cost of ₹1,200 crore
The new passenger terminal at the Jay Prakash Narayan International Airport in Patna was built at a cost of ₹1,200 crore, while the civil enclave at the Bihta airport will be developed at ₹1,410 crore, officials said.
The new terminal of the Patna airport has an area of 65,150 sqm, and is equipped with world-class amenities to serve 3,000 passengers during peak hours and 1 crore passengers annually, a statement said.
The design of the building draws inspiration from the landscape of the region and Mithila art, it said.
The new terminal building at the Patna airport, along with the proposed civil enclave at Bihta, will cater to the increasing domestic travellers, and strengthen the state’s connectivity, boosting tourism, trade, and investment opportunities, it added.
The proposed terminal building at Bihta will have an area of 68,000 sqm. It will be equipped to serve 3,000 passengers during peak hours and 50 lakh passengers annually up to 2047.
Additionally, ancillary buildings such as a multilevel car park and a service block will be built as part of the civil enclave. It will showcase a rich blend of historical influences, spanning various periods of history.
The terminal building will have an insulated roofing system, LED lighting, and glazing that minimises heat transfer to maintain a comfortable temperature, the statement said.
PM Modi leads mega roadshow in Patna
Prime Minister Narendra Modi led a mega roadshow in Patna on Thursday evening.
Thousands of people gathered on two sides of the road and on rooftops to catch a glimpse of Modi, who greeted them from inside his vehicle.
The roadshow began from Aranya Bhawan near the Patna airport, and will conclude at the state BJP office on Birchand Patel Marg.

Sikkim can become a global tourism hub, says PM Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday (May 29, 2025) said he envisions a “golden” Sikkim emerging as a global hub for tourism and a powerhouse in sports. The remarks were made as the State marked 50 years since its accession to the Indian Union in 1975.
Addressing the Golden Jubilee celebrations virtually from Bagdogra in neighbouring West Bengal—after inclement weather prevented his arrival at Paljor Stadium in Gangtok—the Prime Minister praised the people of Sikkim for their democratic decision to integrate with India. “Sikkim chose a democratic future and became not just geographically but emotionally a part of India’s soul,” Mr. Modi said, referring to the 1975 referendum in which 97% of voters supported the move.
