Saari Hekdi Nikal Dunga’: Pappu Yadav Issues Explosive Warning to Raj Thackeray Amid Marathi Language Controversy

esponding to Thackeray’s recent remarks allegedly targeting migrants from Bihar, Yadav warned that he would personally travel to Mumbai and take out all his arrogance

In a fresh escalation of political tensions between Bihar and Maharashtra leaders, Jan Adhikar Party chief Pappu Yadav has directly challenged the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray. Responding to Thackeray’s recent remarks allegedly targeting migrants from Bihar, Yadav warned that he would personally travel to Mumbai and take out all his arrogance.

Addressing the media in Bihar, Yadav criticised Raj Thackeray’s anti-migrant stance, calling it divisive and disrespectful. “People from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have contributed immensely to the development of Mumbai and Maharashtra. Raj Thackeray cannot insult them with his hollow threats and arrogance. “Mumbai aakar saari hekdi nikal dunga,” Yadav declared.

This sharp exchange comes in the backdrop of Raj Thackeray’s repeated calls for prioritising Maharashtrians in local jobs and his long-standing criticism of the influx of North Indian migrants into Mumbai. Thackeray’s party, the MNS, has often been accused of stoking regional tensions and targeting migrant workers through its aggressive campaigns.

Pappu Yadav, known for his fiery rhetoric, said that such statements damage the unity and integrity of India. “Mumbai belongs to the entire country. It is not anyone’s personal property. People from every corner of India work and live there. Raj Thackeray’s politics of hate will not be tolerated anymore,” he said.

He also appealed to the people of Maharashtra to reject divisive politics and stand in solidarity with fellow Indians, regardless of their state of origin.

Bihar leaders have often stood up against what they describe as discrimination against their people in Mumbai, and Pappu Yadav’s challenge adds fresh fuel to the debate.

Whether this confrontation will lead to a political face-off in Mumbai remains to be seen, but for now, it has certainly intensified the Bihar-Maharashtra political narrative. In a fiery public statement, Pappu Yadav declared:
“Mumbai aakar saari hekdi nikal dunga” (“I’ll uproot all arrogance when I come to Mumbai”), directly targeting Raj Thackeray over the ongoing Marathi language row. The use of raw, evocative Marathi underscores the deep-rooted cultural passion fueling this dispute.

He framed it as a stand against perceived authoritarianism, stating that those who disrespect Marathi’s place in Mumbai will regret challenging his resolve.

This confrontation stems from political backlash against the Maharashtra government’s 2025 move to mandate Hindi as a third language starting Class I under the National Education Policy—a change viewed by many as an “imposition” and threat to Marathi identity

The Thackeray cousins—Raj of MNS and Uddhav of Shiv Sena (UBT)—put aside long-standing rivalries to lead protest marches in Mumbai, calling it a “language emergency” Those rallies eventually prompted the state to withdraw the GRs (government resolutions) mandating early Hindi education

What does Pappu Yadav’s challenge mean?

  • Direct confrontation: He doesn’t just critique Raj’s politics—he confronts his personality and influence.
  • Broadening the narrative: He positions himself as someone willing to stand up to Marathi strongmen, signaling political ambition.
  • Mobilizing identity: His raw messaging taps into a broader Marathi pride discourse, appealing to voters sick of language-based coercion.

Political unity among Thackerays isn’t ironclad. Despite joint marches on July 5–7, both also held separate rallies, underscoring ongoing jockeying for influence

Meanwhile, voices like author Shobhaa De criticized the “language Dadagiri”—asserting that pushing Marathi through aggression divides the city and distracts from real civic issues

This reveals two emerging trends:

  1. Populist language mobilization by parties like MNS, Shiv Sena (UBT), and now Pappu Yadav.
  2. Editorial resistance, warning against aggressive linguistic nationalism.

Supporters of Pappu applaud his defiance—viewing it as courage in the face of media-hyped Marathi chauvinism.

Critics accuse him of opportunism, riding volatile public sentiment around language and identity.

Mumbai citizens who enjoy the city’s diversity voice concern—fearful of ethnic division and mob culture fueled by aggressive Marathi identity politics.

Political gains: Pappu Yadav may be carving a space as a protector of civic equality, opposing both established Marathi strongmen.

Marathi identity test: Will Marathi pride remain inclusive—or will it harden into exclusivity and enforcement?

Electoral implications: With BMC elections approaching, leaders are doubling down on identity-based mobilization. The Hindi-row has shown real voter traction

Cultural cohesion in Mumbai: The city’s cosmopolitan character may increasingly be pressured unless checks against “Dadagiri” rise up.

Pappu Yadav’s challenge punches through Marathi political strongholds—turning the language issue into a broader fight for civic justice.

The Thackeray duo’s revival of joint protest marks a rare unity—but one marred by internal power plays.

Mumbai now stands at a crossroads: Will Marathi pride continue to drive aggressive identity politics—or will voices like Pappu’s and critical thinkers demand a more tolerant, plural civic ethos?
